R&D Engineer
Position Description
This position plays a key role in helping us achieve our objectives of reducing the costs of healthcare for client hospitals and their patients, as well as significantly reducing unnecessary landfill waste.
We are looking for a local candidate to design, develop, and improve new procedures for reprocessing medical devices, and to direct the testing and evaluation of medical devices. It is preferred that the applicant have medical device industry experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform Process/Product developments and validation.
- Work in a team environment with other departments such as Quality, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Mfg. Engineering, Customer Service, Marketing, Sales, as well as external customers and suppliers.
- Generate detailed project plans, multi-task, and fast-track project tasks.
- Discuss progress and interim findings at periodic design review meetings. Continues with project in original concept or modifies direction based on commentary and decisions of design review committee.
- Establish test protocols specified by customer input, national and international standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Direct and facilitate the testing of new products to verify product reliability.
- Plan and direct pilot runs for new product development.
- Interact with Regulatory Affairs with regard to device transfer to production floor.
- Assist in the development of technical protocols and reports.
- Improve/support existing processes.
- May provide training and/or supervision to other employees and/or interns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 2-3 year experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Biomedical Engineering.
- Project management experience (Microsoft project, schedules, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology/concepts related to medical devices.
- Proficient in managing projects to effectively complete assignments and achieve desired outcomes.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to plan/prioritize activities.
- Ability to work independently or with a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present issues, plans and objectives.
- Ability to work in fast paced organization, meeting multiple deadlines and succeeding under pressure is a must..
- Motivated, resourceful, ambitious, enthusiastic and attentive to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and Internet use.
- Exposure to JD Edwards highly preferred.
